Brandon and Byshottles Parish Council is situated in County Durham. The responsible County Council for the area is Durham County Council.
The Parish Council is comprised of 6 wards namely Brandon, Meadowfield and Browney, Langley Moor, New Brancepeth, Ushaw Moor and Broompark and Esh Winning and Waterhouses. The Council is made up of 21 Councillors, all of whom are elected:

Allotments
Provision and maintenance of 16 allotment sites comprising of over 500 plots including grazing sites. Further information on allotments and a full list of their locations are available on the allotments section of the website.

Garage sites are situated at Brandon Road, Esh Winning, Commercial Street, High Meadowfield, and Langley Grove.

Roadside Seats
Provision of seats at various locations throughout parish.
Floral Containers
Provision and maintenance of over 150 floral containers throughout the Parish including both winter and summer bedding. Flowerbeds are installed at all village entrances. Planters have also been installed in Meadowfield and Ushaw Moor cemeteries. The Parish Council is also proud to have installed a beautiful coal miners floral tub at The Roundy, Ushaw Moor.
Painting Competition
Organisation of an annual painting competition for primary schools throughout the Parish.1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners receive book tokens of £15, £10 and £5 respectively. The Chairman of Durham County Council judges the overall winners in the Council Offices usually in July.
Planning
Brandon and Byshottles Parish Council is consulted on planning policy documents and planning applications for the area. Ward Members are circulated with applications relevant to their area.
Partnership Working
Brandon and Byshottles Parish Council often forms partnerships with Durham County Council to provide services such as traffic calming schemes, street lighting, bus shelters, footpaths, village nameplates. The Council is currently in partnership with Durham County Council to provide a Community Highways Worker to assist in routine streetscene maintenance. The Council works closely with Mid Durham AAP on projects which benefit the Parish Council area.
Provision of ‘Dog Pooh Bags’
Brandon and Byshottles Parish Council provide ‘dog pooh bags’ free of charge which are available at the Parish Council offices and at the following locations:

- New Brancepeth Village Hall
- R & B Convenience Store, Ushaw Moor
- Waterhouses Village Hall
- Esh Winning Library
- RSPCA Charity Shop, Langley Moor
- St. John’s Hall, Meadowfield
