About the Scheme
Brandon and Byshottles Parish Council sets aside funding each year to support local organisations, projects and activities that benefit residents of the parish.
Funding is limited and all applications are considered on their individual merits.
Who Can Apply?
You may apply if your organisation:
- Is a charity, voluntary group, community organisation, Community Interest Company (CIC), Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) or other not-for-profit organisation.
- Operates within Brandon and Byshottles or provides clear benefits to local residents.
- Can demonstrate how the funding will benefit the local community.
The Council cannot normally fund:
- Individuals
- Commercial businesses.
- Overseas charities or projects.
- National appeals with no direct local benefit.
- Activities that have already taken place.
- More than one award per year.
What We Can Fund
We will consider applications for:
- Community projects and activities.
- Equipment and resources.
- Improvements to community facilities.
- Running costs where there is a clear need and community benefit.
Funding is normally limited to £500 per ward, although larger awards may be considered in exceptional circumstances.
Conditions of Funding
If your application is successful:
- The grant must be used for the purpose stated in your application.
- The funding should be spent within 12 months.
- The Council may request evidence of expenditure.
- Organisations receiving more than £250 must provide a short report explaining how the grant was used.
Please note that receiving a grant does not guarantee future funding.
How Applications Are Decided
Applications are considered by the Parish Council at its monthly meetings.
When making decisions the council will consider:
- The level of community benefit.
- The number of local residents who will benefit.
- The financial need of the organisation.
- The amount of funding available.
The council’s decision is final.
What Information Do We Need?
Please submit:
- A completed Grant Application Form.
- Your most recent accounts (or an income and expenditure forecast if newly formed).
- A recent bank statement.
- A project budget or explanation of how the grant will be spent.
- Any additional information that supports your application.
How to Apply
- Complete the Grant Application Form (link to form)
- Attach supporting documentation.
- Submit your application to the Parish Council.
Applications should be received by the second Wednesday of the month (except August when the council is in recess) to be considered at the next Council meeting.
Applicants will be notified of the council’s decision following the meeting.
